Got my blog back… finally! (sort of)

It has been a long time coming… but, finally, I have my log back (sort of)…
I had been blogging for a couple years with a blogging site that I will not name (guess away, my friends)…
Unfortunately that blogging company disappeared! Their site stayed up so I didn’t realize they were gone, but they were definitely gone. I ran into some tech issues with their platform and tried to get some assistance and, after many repeated attempts, I discovered that no one was home. Gone.
Not such a big deal, right? Wrong.
I had the time of my life trying to get control of my domain name (which i owned)… it was maddening. In the meantime I tossed up a quick blog at wordpress, but I still wanted my domain name and my blog.
To make matters worse, I was unable to export from that unnamed blog service either! So a couple years worth of posts were eluding me. I could get to them online but had no way to export them. I considered cutting and pasting each post…. that would take awhile but at least i would preserve my posts.
Well, I finally got control of my domain name again and was preparing to cut-and-paste my posts over. I went to begin this laborious task and…
… they are gone! For good… no where to be seen or found. A couple years worth of posts… gone.
So, here we sit… I think I have some of the posts saved on my old laptop. Maybe I will get around to uploading them.
Then again, maybe not.

Ouch!! That must have been so very frustrating for you. Now you have things back up and running, though, you can move on to bigger and better things. But that doesn’t do much to take away the disappointment of losing so much work.

You may be able to salvage some of your old posts with the Way Back Machine on archive.org.
Sorry to hear you lost so much history.
