Connecting to God

An overview of our new message series on prayer ::

Have you ever stopped to consider what an incredible gift prayer truly is? Think about it: our opportunity to connect to God, the Creator of the universe, in conversation. Yet there are a variety of reasons that we may not experience this gift as regularly as we could or enjoy how meaningful it can be for our lives. We sometimes make prayer more puzzling than God intended it to be. Join us for this series as we look to Jesus’ teachings for some practical direction and encouragement for you as you seek God through prayer.

june29.2008 > Moving Life’s MountainsDo you realize that prayer has the power to change anything and everything? No, that’s not an over exaggeration. Why? Because the power of prayer is the power of God. What’s more, this power of prayer is made available to everyone as a gift from God.

july06.2008 > Faithfully Praying – There is a connection between our faith and the power of prayer. As we grow into a deeper faith, God has the opportunity to respond in more powerful ways. Sometimes our understanding of this faith-prayer connection gets distorted and can lead to confusion or discouragement. Learn what Jesus shared about this relationship between faith and prayer and the impact it can have on your life.

july13.2008 > When Mountains Don’t Move – It always seems easier to pray when things are going our way, but what happens when we pray and the difficulties don’t go away? What then? Although there are no nicely packaged answers, God’s Word does offer us encouragement in how we can respond during these times.

july20.2008 > Practically Praying – Jesus’ closest friends, the disciples, requested, “Lord, teach us to pray.” That is a request we all can make as we seek to connect to God. How do we pray? Learn how Jesus responded to his friends then and how his response invites us to enjoy a meaningful prayer-life now.

july27.2008 > When God’s People Pray – There is something amazing and beautiful that happens when God’s people pray. Worshiping God and entering into conversation with him moves us in ways that nothing else can. Experience this beauty as we gather to honor God and seek his face through prayer. Special guests will be joining us for this worship service… you will not want to miss it!

A special thanks to pastors of the new thing network and the works of N.T Wright, Wes Tracy, Dallas Willard and Richard Foster for direction and insight that helped shape some of these messages.
