I am very excited for this new 5-part series we are kicking off this coming Sunday.  I shared several weeks ago about a meaningful experience I had in Las Vegas, (yes, God hangs out in Vegas).  I was up there with Tyler and his family at an annual gathering for all of our sister churches in Arizona and Southern Nevada.  It was a great few days and throughout there was a real focus on prayer.  The final evening we shared a great time of experiential worship and prayer led by Dr. Jerry Porter.  I left refreshed and renewed, not to mention convicted, sensing God’s Spirit guiding us to make prayer a priority at SFC, our church back in Scottsdale.  As a result I rearranged my preaching calendar, pushing back the series I had been planning, (I have always found it beneficial to listen when God talks… and, yes, I’ve learned the hard way).  I began praying and searching Scripture, pouring through resources, reading books, blogs and articles, chatting with fellow Christ-followers and preparing for this series on prayer.  I shared this priority-on-prayer with our ministry leaders and, not surprisingly, they were tremendously supportive.  (I am blessed to have such an incredible group of God-centered leaders around me!)

I have compiled a 30-day Prayer Journal that will be available June 29th, the first Sunday of this series.  I know many of you are traveling right now so I will also post the scripture and reading for each day here on my blog.  Be sure to read the introductory post for the prayer journal where you will find some suggestions for your 30-Day journey through the Prayer Journal.  I must say, pulling this journal together has been one of the most rewarding things I have done in my years in ministry over these past 12 years.  There have been many incredible Christ-followers over the past 2000+ years who have equally incredible insights to share regarding prayer.  What a blessing.
